Where This Life Leads
When I was young, I admit, I may not have had many friends. I deliberately dislodged myself from others, so I could focus on my own studies. That had always been my way of learning and it allowed me to always be ahead of the classes I was keen in learning, such as maths and languages. But since I was so engulfed in my studies, I started to lose my skills to socialize with others, and so communications skills are something that I am gradually trying to improve. I had to overcome numerous obstacles because of this exact reason, but I believe that this has made me benevolent towards others. I’m hoping this new-found compassion will help me in building lifelong relationships and perhaps guide me through trying times.
I am very dexterous, and have numerous talents that I would like to expand on in the future. These include my love of producing music and video editing. I also enjoy using my talents of diverse speech to translate documents from one language to another. My most fluent languages are Japanese and English, but I can also understand and speak Spanish, Swedish, Latin, and Hangul (the Korean alphabet). I believe my understanding of these have made me a very internationally minded student but also gives me a very good vantage. One example of this is my various styles of music. I am hoping that my creativity has, and will, help me in making music that is appealing to people of all countries, especially countries represented in our school community. My focus on cultures does not end there; in fact this is just the beginning. My ability to speak numerous languages quite fluently makes me a polyglot, which is a useful skill to have to when going to a international school filled with students from all around the world. I can relate with a variety of students. I believe this will be very useful in my future, if I plan to pursue a communications major, but I am still unsure of what exactly it is that I would like to pursue. I am sure what I want has something to do with the talents that I have developed after years of going to HIS, and improved on with time. One thing you should know about me: I am the type of person who is not afraid to stand on a stage, and sing in front of a hundred people. I am someone who takes risks and I don't believe that anything you do is futile. I don't care if it's a shrill, to me it is whether I get my message across during that performance. I say what I feel is the right thing to say, and hope to make an impact on my audience. My name is Haruki, and I can only live once, so I would like to amble between the paths that I have opened for myself throughout my 15 years. Improving to become someone that thinks about how others feel, while I also improve on these skills that I have is how I want to live. I want to be a risk taker, but also be able to think how a person would react when I say something wrong, or what kinds of people will understand my way of thinking, accepting me. I do not have the confidence to say that I will grow up to be famous, but with my smarts I am hoping to at least help society. I suppose, I can say it is a dream of mine to pursue a future that will help others, like I have done through languages and maths for so many years. I want to be a selfless person who thinks about others before myself. |
